OUR STORY

Humble Beginnings

See the origin story that began the revolutionary real estate media company

By QUINT LEARS

It was in Las Vegas Nevada at the 2016 builder show when we decided to launch NewHomeSales.com  By launch I mean open up the equipment shipped to my house the night before.  By equipment I mean a $25 amazon basics tripod with a 5 dollar clip which would hold my cell phone and a microphone that would plug into my phone. I had thrown the boxes unopened into my luggage in a rush to get out the door. To say we were unprepared was an understatement.  Before trip we didn’t even book a room.  The last time I was in Vegas there were plenty of open rooms and many discounts.

This year however was different.  The market was starting to heat up and builders sales professionals and vendors from all over the US and Internationally had descended upon Vegas to attend this years builder’s show.  My guess is we walked about 5 miles up and down the strip trying to find a room.   Cesars Palace said they did have one and I said, WE WILL TAKE IT.  Then the friendly lady behind the counter said it was $1200 dollars a night.  My feet said DO IT!  But my head prevailed and we kept walking.  Finally we found a low budget room off the strip and we collapsed in exhaustion.

After making sure the equipment was working we dressed up and headed out to The Nationals.   My goal was to interview top professionals and award winners.  These were the new home sales professionals who had reached the pinnacle of success in new home sales and marketing and I was going to attempt to Interview them.  The first few interviews were ok but I kept saying, “we are in Las Vegas New Mexico.”  There is a Las Vegas New Mexico by the way but we were in Nevada, so that was a problem.  I guess I was a little nervous or anxious because I kept doing it.    Another few interviews went horribly because the guests were too far away from the microphone and when I turned the microphone toward my guest the cord pulled tight and the phone twisted and the whole interview was trashed.

At the end of the show we actually got some really good interviews but more importantly we made a lot of mistakes and learned a ton.  Now we have a real website and some expensive equipment but the desire to learn from others and share insights ideas and best practices has not changed.  Thank you for your support and encouragement.
